Go Apple Picking

There are still plenty of opportunities to enjoy a favorite fall tradition — picking your own apples!

Hicks Orchard in Granville is New York’s oldest U-Pick orchard, welcoming apple pickers since 1905. The orchard is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the fall season, with a variety of apples available for picking throughout the season. Stop by the Barn Store for fresh apples, cider donuts, fresh-pressed cider, homemade fudge and other local treats.

While you’re there, adults can visit Slyboro Ciderhouse, located at Hicks Orchard, to sample estate-made hard cider in its historic tasting room.

Another option is Bowman Orchards on Sugar Hill Road in Rexford. The family-friendly farm offers U-Pick apples and other seasonal produce, along with a farm store, farm animals, rides and other fall attractions. With more than 60 varieties of apples grown at the orchard, there’s plenty to discover throughout the season.

Before heading out, check each orchard’s website for current picking conditions, available apple varieties, hours and activities.
