Fighting fires are a huge part of what they do, but Queensbury firefighters provide services you many not even know about such as: water and ice rescue, mountain rescue, smoke detector checks, fire and emergency education, CPR and emergency training, school fire prevention education, community fundraising benefits, lake cleaning, broken water line response, and so much more!
You may or may not be aware that there are five fire emergency services and six fire company locations that serve Queensbury NY. These departments are made up of trained volunteers, all dedicated to keeping our community safe.

Queensbury Fire Departments also provide fire prevention education to school children, churches, and other youth groups. They attend events such as the Queensbury Home Depot’s Annual Safety Day in October and Sear’s National Safety Weekend at the Aviation Mall in October. The departments also host picnics, barbeques, and other events several times per year, where firefighters proudly display their apparatus for delighted children and anyone who would love to crawl inside and check out all of the fascinating bells and whistles and learn fire safety and prevention.
And let us not forget the wonderful women of the Queensbury Ladies Auxiliary! In Queensbury and in fire departments around the country, the Ladies Auxiliary aids volunteer firefighters with liquids and food at the scene. They also collect items in the event of an emergency, and coordinating community events to raise funds for vital new equipment and charities. Just like our firefighters, the Ladies Auxiliary is always ready to respond to the call.
Fire loss in our community is low compared to similar communities. This is due to diligent training and huge efforts on the part of the Queensbury fire emergency services to raise money for state-of-the-art equipment. This gear includes the “Ultimate Amkus Rescue” System, which decreases the amount of time it takes to extract a victim from a car, along with the new Scott air packs. Queensbury has also adopted the IamResponding.com Program for Emergency Response Notification. This uses the smartphones of all emergency personnel on their way to a scene and notifies Incident Commanders on who is responding to the call.
