Feeder Canal

Address: Richardson St., Glens Falls NY 12801

The Feeder Canal transported people and goods from the 1800’s to 1928, connecting freight and passenger boats from Lake Champlain in Whitehall to the Hudson River and. Thirteen masonry locks were constructed to manage the 130-foot vertical drop east of Sandy Hill (now Hudson Falls). This engineering feat includes the popular Five Combines in Kingsbury, composed of a continuous downhill run of five locks (6-10) in a row. Today the canal and towpath offer recreational opportunities to members of our community and provide a historical view of our communities.
